What is NogChess?
NogChess is a modern reinterpretation of classical chess, played on a 9 files × 10 ranks board with three new pieces, the Prince (P), Guard Knight (G) and Super-pawn (S). Our goal is to restore the spirit of discovery that engines eroded from 20-th-century chess.
Why a 9×10 board?
- Extra rank prevents early simplifications and deepens strategy.
- Odd number of files keeps central symmetry (d/e files remain central).
- Mathematical harmony — bishop pair still covers both colors.
Web3 & NFT openings
Inspired by Bobby Fischer’s dislike of opening memorisation, our Deployment stage lets players draft their armies within a 62-pawn budget before real battle begins. Unique deployments can be minted as NFTs and rented by others.
